India retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as they beat the Kangaroos by 6 wickets in the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. This was on the back of a match-winning seven-wicket haul from Ravindra Jadeja, which put the Australians in a daze and helped India take control.

In the second Test in Delhi, which is the home ground of former India captain Virat Kohli, the fans were chanting “Bengaluru Bengaluru” with loud noises and with absolute enthusiasm. Kohli told the crowd to stop the chants and “chant India, India” instead since India were playing the match. Bengaluru is Kohli’s home franchise in the Indian T20 League. This speaks volumes of Kohli’s love to play for India.

India have taken a 2-0 lead in the four-match Test series and retained Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The second Test match finished in three days just like the first one in Nagpur. India were not at their best with the bat as Nathan Lyon picked up a five-wicket haul in the first innings to put India in a precarious position. However, Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel changed the game for India with the bat in the first innings. This is not the first time that the lower order has bailed out India from a tricky situation.

They put on a 114-run partnership for the 8th wicket to get close to Australia’s score and in the end, the Kangaroos had a one-run lead going into the second innings. But the Indian bowlers just turned the match around with a splendid bowling performance to hand India a victory and take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Kohli will be looking to get on top of the likes of Todd Murphy and Nathan Lyon, who have troubled him, come the third and fourth Test matches. The third Test match will be held in Indore on March 1 which will give the teams a good break to refresh themselves and come back. The 34-year-old will be looking to score big runs in the next two Tests.
