India- Bangladesh Super 12 match at the 20-20 World Cup was billed as tricky for both teams. Shakib Al Hasan had already downplayed the expectation from their end by saying that they were not in the World Cup to win. It was rather India who wanted the win more.

The Men in Blue started off pretty poorly as they lost the skipper Rohit Sharma at just 2 runs. Out-of-form batter KL Rahul however chose a very good time to come into form as he hit a quickfire half-century to bring India out of its misery. Star India batter Virat Kohli was at it again as he played another significant knock of 64 off 44 deliveries and brought India to a decent 184 in 20 overs.

Coming onto chase what was a big score, Bangladesh started off sensationally as Litton Das played a quickfire knock of 60 off of just 27 deliveries and brought India bowlers to their knees. When Bangladesh were 66/0 at the end of the 7th over rain came and brought another twist to the tale.

Bangladesh were ahead of the DLS target by a comfortable margin and had the D/L method come into play, Bangladesh would have been adjudged the winner. Rain gods however had something else in mind as the clouds gave way to sunshine and the match was allowed to resume.

With a reduced target, both teams went back to the ground but it was a change in direction for both teams. India who were earlier out of ideas looked like a different team together as they came up with sensational bowling and fielding performance to halt the Bangladesh team 5 runs short of the target and cement their position in the semi-finals.

The topsey turvy nature of the game brought a lot of fans against each other on social media.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to India’s win:

Many Bangladesh and Pakistan fans also questioned the decision to allow the play to resume. There were innumerable posts that called Team India a cheat and the umpire being paid by the Indian Cricket Board. They however were given a good answer by Indian cricket fans as well many of whom suggested that it is more difficult for the fielding team in a wet outfield condition and not the other way around. Let’s look at the tirade from Pakistan and Bangaldesh fans after India’s win over Bangaldesh.
