India announced its playing XI against Bangladesh in the last match of the Super 4 stage in the 2023 Asia Cup. The Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss in Colombo and elected to bowl first. Since the finalists were already decided for the tournament, the Indian team decided to rest some of its key players. As a result, some of the players are making their debut in the Asia Cup ODI tournament.

Since the match between the two teams will be irrelevant in the perspective of the tournament, the Indian team has a whopping 5 changes for the match. Tilak Varma gets his maiden cap in the One Day Internationals. The youngster replaces Virat Kohli in the XI. It is to be seen where he bats, as a couple of batters are not in the playing XI against Bangladesh.

Hardik Pandya is not playing the match as well. The star All-rounder is rested for the match and is replaced by Suryakumar Yadav. The middle-order batter has not had the best time in the format in the last couple of years. This would be a good opportunity for him to score some runs and gain confidence ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 in India.

Rest for the pacers against Bangladesh

Shardul Thakur comes back to the side and replaces Kuldeep Yadav. While resting a spinner might not make sense, it is ideal to rest Kuldeep, as he has turned out to be a main weapon for India in the middle overs. It would be good to not play him more so that the opponents cannot plan against the skills of Yadav. Hence, Thakur enters the playing XI against Bangladesh.

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, the two pacers are rested for the match. In their place, Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna will play. It is a good call to rest the pacers, as they can be fit to deliver their best in the final against Sri Lanka and further against Australia in the upcoming ODI series later this month.
