Laziest XI of all time in cricket
Cricket is known to be one of the physically most demanding sports. The bowlers, especially the seamers, must run in and bowl as fast as possible. The batters need to run in between the stumps on either side of the pitch which are 22 yards apart. The fielders need to run behind the ball which can travel towards the boundary ropes. In all departments of the game, fitness is essential.
At the same time, there have been some cricketers who survived the sport without good fitness. In fact, many great cricketers were not known for their fitness and were often called lazy for their approach to the game in different ways.
Let’s look at the list of laziest cricketers of all time:
11. Darren Gough
The former English pacer is known for his successful career as a bowler. For his appearance, one could have doubted his success as a pace bowler. But his appearance did not harm his bowling. Gough claimed 229 wickets in Test cricket and 235 wickets in ODIs for England. Without a doubt, Gough is one of the best bowlers from England.
Unfortunately, the 52-year-old was a mediocre fielder. The Yorkshireman was rather too lazy as a fielder. There are instances where the right-arm fast-medium bowler put minimal effort as a fielder. Gough was also known as someone who could bat a bit. Some of the former England cricketers treated him like a replacement for Ian Botham.
