Lasith Malinga has been named the Mumbai Indians’ official bowling coach, which is a delightful development. The iconic member of the Wankhede stadium coaching staff will now work alongside Kieron Pollard, another former teammate, under the direction of Mark Boucher. Within the dugout, this collaboration is expected to forge a powerful alliance.

Malinga’s involvement with MI now extends outside of the walls of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Before this, he was MI Cape Town’s  bowling coach in SA20 and MI New York’s bowling coach in Major League Cricket.

In the world of cricket, Malinga’s reputation is nothing short of legendary. Every time he took the field, he was a feared bowler, and his exceptional bowling abilities were crucial in helping his team win championships and important games. Malinga is known for coming up big for his team in crucial situations and making clutch plays.

Malinga’s honored return to the Mumbai Indians family!

His affiliation with the Mumbai Indians began in 2008 and has lasted for almost 13 years. He played for 11 years during this incredible journey and served as the MI bowling mentor for one year during the 2018 IPL. Another achievement in his resume is his most recent position as the MI NY Bowling Coach. He helped the #OneFamily win seven trophies during his time there, including four IPL championships, two Champions League T20 crowns, and one Major League Cricket crown as bowling coach.

Lasith Malinga, who is no stranger to the Mumbai Indians’ family, expressed his honor and enthusiasm about his new role. When asked about the development, He stated, “It is truly an honor for me to be appointed Bowling Coach of Mumbai Indians, and my journey in the #OneFamily continues, following MI New York and MI Cape Town. I am looking forward to working closely with Mark, Polly, Rohit, and the rest of the team, especially the bowling unit, whose approach I loved last season, and the young MI talent that has the potential to excel, backed by the passionate MI Paltan.”
