Following Pakistan’s exit from the Asia Cup 2023, fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has taken to social media to dispel rumors of discord within the team. Reports had suggested that Afridi and team captain Babar Azam were involved in a heated argument in the dressing room. The incident took place after Pakistan’s loss to Sri Lanka in the Super 4 stage. However, a senior team member had previously denied any such altercation.

In a significant development, Afridi shared a photograph on September 19, featuring himself and Babar Azam, with the caption “family.” This social media post seems to be an effort to quash the rumors and reaffirm the unity within the Pakistan cricket team. It sends a message of solidarity and teamwork, addressing concerns about potential disruptions in the team’s dynamics.

The star Pakistan pacer’s post emphasizes the importance of effective team communication and maintaining a cohesive environment. Especially in high-pressure situations like international cricket tournaments. It aims to reassure fans and cricket enthusiasts that the team remains united. Also, it essential for the team to be focused despite the challenges faced in the Asia Cup. Let us see how fans have reacted on Twitter after this post from Shaheen;

Pakistan and New Zealand warm-up matches to be held behind closed doors

In a surprising development, the organizers have announced that the World Cup warm-up match between Pakistan and New Zealand, originally scheduled for September 29 at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, will be played without spectators. The decision to hold the match behind closed doors is a result of concerns regarding inadequate security arrangements due to a rescheduled festival calendar.

The city police have requested the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) to postpone the game due to the simultaneous festivals of Ganesh Visarjan and Milan-Un-Nabi, which conclude on September 28.  However, with the tournament schedule already adjusted, postponement wasn’t possible. The Pakistan team will be playing two warm-up matches. Their first match will be against New Zealand on September 29, followed by their second and final warm-up game against Australia on October 3.
