‘Lagta hai apna time finally aa gaya’- SRH fans ecstatic with first IPL 2023 win after losing two on the trot

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced off against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the third match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. SRH, having lost their first two matches, were desperate for a win to get their campaign back on track.

PBKS won the toss and elected to bat first. They got off to a good start, with their openers Mayank Agarwal and Ishan Kishan putting up a solid partnership. However, their middle order collapsed, with all the batters apart from Shikhar Dhawan failing to make a significant contribution.

Dhawan, who has been in terrific form in the recent past, played a lone hand and scored an unbeaten 99 off just 66 balls. His innings included 12 fours and 5 sixes and was a treat to watch for the fans. However, his efforts went in vain as PBKS could only manage a total of 162/8 in their 20 overs.

For SRH, Mayank Markande was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 wickets in his 4 overs. Umran Malik and Marco Jensen also chipped in with 2 wickets each and helped restrict PBKS to a below-par score.

Chasing a target of 163, SRH got off to a steady start, with their openers Jason Roy and Wriddhiman Saha putting up a partnership of 41 runs. However, both of them got out in quick succession, and SRH were in a spot of bother.

Rahul Tripathi, who came in at number three, took charge of the innings and played a brilliant knock. He remained unbeaten on 74 off just 48 balls and hit 7 fours and 3 sixes. Aiden Markram, the new captain of SRH, also played a crucial role, remaining unbeaten on 37 off just 25 balls and helping his team cross the finish line.

In the end, SRH won the match with 5 wickets in hand and 9 balls to spare. It was a much-needed win for the team, and they would be hoping to carry the momentum forward in the upcoming matches.
