The 5th T20I between Pakistan and England took place at the Gadaafi Stadium in Lahore. The toss went the way of England and they elected to bowl first. Pakistan was given a great start by Mohammad Rizwan, who scored a superb 63 from 46 balls. He got 2 boundaries and 3 sixes in his innings and provided Pakistan with solidity.

Mark Wood and David Willey dismissed Babar Azam, Shan Masood, Haider Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed to derail Pakistan to 81-4. Other than Rizwan, who played till the end, the Pakistan lower order collapsed like a house of cards, and they somehow ended up scoring 145 for the fall of 10 wickets in their 20 overs. Other than Mark Wood and David Willey, Sam Curran and Chris Woakes picked up 2 wickets and 1 wicket respectively.

In the second innings, England would have fancied their chances of chasing the target down, but it did not happen as they got off to a poor start. Philip Salt and Alex Hales were dismissed cheaply by Harris Rauf and Mohammad Nawaz. Then Dawid Malan came at number 3 and scored a handy 36 from 35 balls with 6 fours.

Ben Duckett quickly got dismissed by Mohammad Wasim Jr and then Harry Brook was dismissed. Moeen Ali then played a great knock under pressure, with a wonderful 51 from 37 balls, with 2 fours and 4 sixes.

Moeen Ali was stranded at the other end and ran out of partners as Pakistan’s death bowling came to the fore. Sam Curran and Chris Woakes were dismissed in quick succession. England fell only six runs short of the target. Pakistan had stolen the match in the form of a heist from England at the end with a superb death bowling performance. Pakistan’s pace bowling has been their strong point as it has never failed to impress.

Harris Rauf and Shadab Khan were the picks of the bowlers for Pakistan and as usual, they had a good bowling card to show.
