In the third match of the ongoing SA20 season 2, Paarl Royals beat Pretoria Capitals by 27 runs. Playing at a sluggish wicket at Boland Park in Paarl, the Royals had a great comeback with the ball. With this win, PR started their campaign on high ground, while the Capitals were left fuming.

Earlier, in the game, Pretoria Capitals skipper James Neesham won the toss and opted to bowl first. Paarl Royals had a shaky start as they lost the first three wickets for a mere 56 runs on the board. Despite adding 42 runs for the first wicket, the Royals failed to avoid a collapse. However, skipper David Miller, along with Van Buuren, added 61 runs for the fourth wicket.

Miller, in his inning, scored 41 runs off 33 balls with the help of four boundaries. While Buuren, in his innings, scored 28 runs off 21 balls with the help of a four and a six. In the end, a quick 28 runs off a 14-ball knock from Andile Phehlukwayo helped the Royals post a competitive total of 160/7 in 20 overs. Meanwhile, for the Pretoria Capitals, Corbin Bosch and Daryn Dupavillon took two wickets each.

James Neesham failed to pull out a win in the first SA20 game

Chasing a competitive total on a sluggish wicket, the Pretoria Capitals had a poor start. Visitors lost two wickets for just 39 runs as Will Jacks and Theunis de Bryn were dismissed by Lungi Ngidi and Obed McCoy, respectively. After their departure, opener Phill Salt, along with Rilee Rossouw, added another 39 runs for the third wicket. Salt in his inning scored 39 runs off 31 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.

Meanwhile, Rossouw, in his inning, scored 29 runs off 18 balls with the help of a four and two sixes. Despite their efforts, the Pretoria Capitals didn’t look settled against a fiery bowling performance in Paarl. They lost six wickets for a mere 96 runs total as the game went way off to them. In the end, the team fell 27 runs short of the target. For Paarl, Andile Phehlukwayo took two wickets and won the MoM award.
