‘Kudos to Durban Super Giants’ – Twitter elated as Durban outclass MI Cape Town by 5 wickets
The fifth match of the SA20 took place at Newlands, Cape Town between the Durban Super Giants and MI Cape Town. The toss was won by the Super Giants who opted to bowl first. MI Cape Town did not get off to the best of starts as Dewald Brevis was bowled by Kyle Mayers off his second ball. His opening partner Ryan Rickelton was dismissed by Reece Topley for 14 in the fourth over.
At 24-2, things could have gone south for Cape Town, but Grant Roelofsen steadied the ship with 52 off 44 balls with four fours and one six. Van der Dussen and Sam Curran were quickly dismissed after Roelofsen was gone. George Linde came in and smashed 33 off 25 balls with four sixes.
This took Cape Town to 105-6, from there on the finishing touches were provided by Rashid Khan and Delano Potgieter who made 14 off 13 balls with one four and one six and 25 off 11 balls with three sixes.
Durban Super Giants got home in 16.3 overs in the SA20
Cape Town made their way to 152-8 in their 20 overs. Topley, Hardus Viljoen and Prenelan Subreyen picked up two wickets each in their respective spells for the Super Giants. In reply the pressure was off Super Giants as they could score freely since they were chasing a small total.
Kyle Mayers provided a good start with 34 off 23 balls with four fours and two sixes. Quinton de Kock was out early after making 11 of 8 balls with two fours. Then Wiaan Mulder made 30 off 26 balls filled with four boundaries. Heinrich Klaasen made 36 off 22 balls with four fours and one six.
In the end, Keemo Paul and Jason Holder finished things off for the Super Giants with the bat. Holder scored 11 off 10 balls with one six and Paul made a stunning cameo of 20 off 8 balls with three sixes. Olly Stone was the best bowler for Cape Town with 4-28 in his 3.3 overs. Super Giants got home with 3.1 overs to spare. Let us take a look at the reactions here-

I tweeted that when Durban Super Giants were going strong & the match was heavily tilted in their favour & they still stumbled.
Fact still remains they are heavily dependent on their openers & Klaasen, others are not reliable & one bad match for MI Cape Town doesn't change that.

Durban Super Giants:
Don’t know why Super Giants and Capitals swapped colour pallets tbh. But this a really nice kit, even if the top is doing too much. Love the yellow/red stripes on the trousers. Just get rid of the arrows on the shirt please DSG.

Durban Super Giants have way too many bowing options…
Surely you can’t have an effective lineup if you feel the need to bowl everyone and none of the bowlers know if they’ll get backed for more overs.#SA20
