India have lost their 20-20 World Cup semi-final clash with England and what followed was a meltdown on Indian Cricket Twitter. Innumerable fans took to Twitter to show their dismay and anger at India’s performance against England.

Every Indian cricket fan has their own theory on why India lost the match at Adelaide. Some claim it to be the opening batting while some have questioned India’s bowling. Many however have also called out Rohit Sharma for his captaincy or rather ‘poor captaincy’.

Those same fans have also spoken of former India captain MS Dhoni under whom India won a number of trophies, the biggest of which were three World events. India under Dhoni won the inaugural 20-20 World Cup in 2007 and followed up with an ODI World Cup win in 2011.

The dhoni-led team also won the 2013 Champions Trophy completing the trio of all Apex Cricket Body events on offer. Since then, India has failed to win even a single such trophy despite having a plethora of talent in the team.

Since Dhoni’s departure, the Men in Blue have changed two leaders; Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma but still came away winless in any of these mega tournaments. The recent loss against England has reignited love for Dhoni as many are remembering the good old days when Dhoni used to take India to victory in major World events.

A Twitter user by the name Madan Gowri wrote, “No disrespect to any cricketer but I miss Dhoni and his art of winning cups!”

Another by the name Vaibhav Singh wrote, “As Indians, we have never missed any cricketer more than we miss Mahendra Singh #Dhoni. Who focussed on cricket, not on Instagram & Tattoos.”
