‘Kuch sharam hi nahi hai’ – Fans react as Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill share laughs in sidelines amid India’s poor outing on Day 2 of WTC 2023 final
Team India are in a sorry state when it comes to World Test Championship final in England. They are tottering at 151-5 with the top order and Ravindra Jadeja back in the hut. This happened after India conceded 469 runs to Australia at the Oval on a pitch which was bouncy but flat.
Erratic bowling against the Kangaroos did not help after keeping them down to 76-3 at one stage on Day 1. Steve Smith and Travis Head put India in a dominating position with a 285-run partnership. After the day’s play had ended, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill were seen laughing and having a chat.
Along with that, Kohli had brought some food for himself and was seen indulging in it. Ishan Kishan was also part of the conversation and was seen speaking to Kohli. When the fans saw this clip surface on social media, they were infuriated and said that they were pained to see them laughing away and pretending as if nothing had happened.
Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill have coped a lot of flak for their dismissals in WTC 2023 final
A fan after noticing the pictures, wrote on twitter,
“This is Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill chilling and laughing after throwing their wickets and leaving India in trouble in Final of a World tournament but somehow their fans will blame IPL for their bad performances where they clearly don’t seem to care much about Indian cricket team.”
Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara made an error in judgement and the stumps were disrupted in almost identical dismissals during India’s first innings. When it comes to Gill, he is new to the Indian Test scene and will learn as he progresses. But when it comes to Pujara, he has played in diverse conditions across the world and has had success in places like Australia and South Africa.
The Indians have not been vigilant and have found it difficult to get out of the T20 mode as they are coming to England after a high intensity Indian Premier League (IPL). India also lost the 2021 WTC final to New Zealand when the two sides had met at Edgbaston in their first edition. Australia look to be inching close to their first WTC title.
Let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter:
Bhaii tu chhode de uski jagah khaana khaane, be responsible, it’s your time to shine and show us that you care for the Indian cricket team.

Even the people who are watching the matchive from home know that in england fast bowlers has to bowl between 4m to 6m length
But the indian bowlers bowled in 8m length

I don’t agree. Virat has been the biggest and most vocal supporter of Test cricket. He strongly believes Test is the most important format of cricket and that it should never be taken lightly. Eating and having a few laughs doesn’t reflect their real seriousness for the game.

Should avoid people like Gill, Ishan in Test Matches, Red Ball cricket is not for entertainment and timepass. They should stick to ODI & T20 bring in Abhimanyu Eswaran who is so deserving and waiting for his chance since long and Sarfaraz in Middle Order as back up

There will come a time when there will only be franchise cricket all round the year and national competition will limit to only ICC tournaments. Much like football.
