‘Koi bhi ho final India he jeetenge’ – Fans react as Asia Cup 2023 Final scenario surfaces

The Asia Cup has produced some great encounters in Sri Lanka after the rain relented. For India, the last two encounters have been great as they beat Pakistan by a big margin of 228 runs which gave their net run rate a big surge. Then in the next game against Sri Lanka, they won a low-scoring match in which India got the better of the Islanders by 41 runs.  With a big boost in net run rate India will be in the top two positions and will get into the final.

When it comes to who they will face, it is an interesting situation as the Pakistan- Sri Lanka encounter on 14 September will be a winner-takes-all clash. Whichever side wins they will make it to the final. In case of a rained-out game then Pakistan have to bid goodbye in the multilateral tournament and Sri Lanka will go through. Bangladesh are out of contention to get into the final as they have lost both their games in the Super Four stage in Asia Cup 2023.

The men from the Emerald Isle on the other hand will look to thwart Pakistan’s plans and would want to put up a good show against Pakistan. Even though Pakistan are without the services of Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf, they have called in Shanawaz Dahani and Naseem Shah as cover. Pakistan have also gotten used to the Sri Lankan conditions as they have played a Test series, the Lanka Premier League and also an ODI series against Afghanistan.

India have been one of the most successful sides in the Asia Cup as they have won seven titles. Sri Lanka comes second having won siz titles so far. When it comes to Pakistan they have tasted success twice. The 2023 Asia Cup was unique as they games were co-hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Pakistan were initially scheduled to host the continental tournament but because of frosty India-Pakistan relations, the Men in Blue could not travel to Pakistan to play any matches.
