In the place of Virat, Ravichandran Ashwin made a comeback to the ODI side, after 605 days. The choice of the selectors did not go well with the fans, as they wanted to see Rohit and Virat play as many matches as possible.
The fans seem to have finally got their answer, as the Indian coach Rahul Dravid gave his reasoning behind the decision. The Indian coach answered the questions during the press conference ahead of the first ODI against Australia. Dravid was asked a lot of questions. Many questions were regarding the plans to counter Australia in the series and in the big tournament.

The Indian coach said that the management wants the senior players to be fresh ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup. India will be playing three ODIs against Australia in the next few days. The venues for the series are Mohali, Rajkot, and Indore. The series will act as a preparatory task for both teams ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup. India will play Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup in Chennai.
