India secured their eighth Asia Cup title in a dominant fashion by defeating Sri Lanka with ten wickets in the final on Sunday at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka’s captain, Dasun Shanaka, won the toss and chose to bat first, but his team struggled and was bowled out for a mere 50 runs, marking their second-lowest total in ODIs.

The hero of the day for India was Mohammed Siraj, who wreaked havoc on the Sri Lankan batting lineup. Siraj registered his career-best bowling figures in ODIs, finishing with an impressive 6/21 in seven overs. His remarkable spell left Sri Lanka in disarray. In response, India had no trouble chasing down the target. They achieved victory in just 6.1 overs, winning the match by ten wickets.

However, it was not at all a smooth sailing for India off the field. Indian captain Rohit Sharma, known for his batting prowess, had a forgetful moment as he left his passport behind in the team hotel. After boarding the team bus, Rohit realized his mistake and had to call a support staff member to retrieve his passport for him. Interestingly, Rohit Sharma has a history of forgetfulness when it comes to personal belongings and essential documents, as revealed by his former teammate Virat Kohli in an interview. Kohli shared humorous anecdotes about Rohit’s forgetful nature, and this latest incident has added to the amusing saga.

India wins their eighth Asia Cup title

Mohammed Siraj delivered a phenomenal performance in the Asia Cup final, taking 6/21 in seven overs, including a maiden. His exceptional bowling helped India dismiss Sri Lanka for just 50 runs in 15.2 overs. India went on to win the final by ten wickets, securing their eighth Asia Cup title in Colombo. Hardik Pandya also joined the party with three wickets and Jasprit Bumrah with one wicket.

In reply to the modest total, the Indian opening duo of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan chased down the target in just 6.1 overs. This is the largest win for India in terms of balls remaining as team India won the match with 263 balls to spare.

The video of Rohit’s forgetful moment quickly went viral on social media, amusing cricket fans and showcasing the lighter side of the Indian captain’s personality. Despite the off-field mishap, Rohit Sharma’s team delivered a stellar performance on the field, clinching the Asia Cup title in style.
