India and Australia fought it out in the second Test at Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. India did not have a great start to Day 2 and KL Rahul was the first to depart to Nathan Lyon after he played a laborious innings of 17 off 41 balls, with one six. Rahul, meanwhile, was seen having a chat with Gautam Gambhir during the Test.
Gambhir and Rahul have been mentor and captain of the Lucknow franchise in 2022 when Lucknow made it to the playoffs in the Indian T20 League. Rahul scored 616 runs in the 2022 edition at an average of 51.33 and a strike rate of 135.38. There was a lot of talk about Rahul’s strike rate as a lot of cricket pundits felt he was scoring slowly.

Rahul has been going through a torrid time in all formats and more so, particularly in Test Cricket. He has not been able to get a string of good scores despite getting a lot of opportunities and has been in a phase of the bad form where he has not been able to score runs. It seems that Rahul is going into a shell and is batting well within himself.
In the first innings of the Delhi Test, Rahul played an eye-catching six and it was much appreciated by Rohit Sharma, who kept telling Rahul to stay positive and play with a calm frame of mind with his natural game. He gestured to Rahul that he should not get pressurised and felt the unnecessary burden.
India, after dismissing Australia for 263 in the first innings, had a very patchy batting performance in the first innings as the top order fell quickly to the Australian spinners. The lower-order batters Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel put together a 114-run partnership for the 8th wicket to get India back into the game as India ended one short of Australia’s total.
