KL Rahul set to return in fourth Test match against England in Ranchi: Reports
India batter KL Rahul will return to the Test squad for the fourth Test against England in Ranchi as it will begin on 23rd February. In the second Test match in Vizag, KL Rahul reported pain in his right quadriceps. As a result, he was sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore for further medical treatment.
In the opening game of the Test series against England, KL Rahul played in the No. 4 position left by Virat Kohli who was not available due to personal issues. KL Rahul batted to help India put on a strong total in the first innings.
Both Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul were not part of the second Test match against England. But their name was added in the last three Test matches against England. Ahead of the third Test match players were subject to fitness. However, Ravindra Jadeja was cleared to play the third Test match as he played an important role in India’s biggest win over England by 434 runs in Test cricket.
Devduatt Padikkal replaces KL Rahul in the third Test
KL Rahul was about to return in the third Test match against England in Rajkot but as per the Indian Cricket Board medical team, he was only 90% fit and needed a week more to recover. Meanwhile, the Indian team rested KL Rahul for the third Test match and named Devdutt Padikkal as his replacement.
The middle order place was filled by Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan. Sarfaraz Khan shined in his debut Test but Rajat Patidar failed to make his mark in the Test match. After winning the third Test on Sunday India captain Rohit Sharma gave an update on KL Rahul stating as “he seems to be good.” If KL Rahul returns to the Test squad for the fourth Test in Ranchi Rajat Patidar will be benched.
