‘Kisi bhi halat mein iss baat pe sehamat nahi hu’ – Fans rip arpart Simon Doull after he says Virat Kohli plays for milestones in IPL
Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Lucknow Super Giants battled it out in what unfolded into a thriller. The coin went in favour of LSG and they opted to bowl first. It was a graveyard for the bowlers as usual at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Virat Kohli took off like a bullet train and scored 61 off 44 balls with four fours and four sixes. This put all doubts about his form out of the window.
But there was a controversial statement from Simon Doull as well which caused a storm on social media. Doull said that Kohli is concerned about his milestones, and he said that for Kohli to get from 42 to 50 he took 10 balls. While this was indeed true, Kohli could have slowed down due to not middling the ball or due to the introduction of spin in the game. So, such a statement coming from Simon Doull is indeed bizarre.
Here is the video

Nicholas Pooran played a blinder and made 62 off 19 balls to bring LSG back into the game
He had made a similar statement in PSL about Babar Azam and milestones in PSL. This is the second time that he has used the statement and found himself in an awkward situation. Kohli has had problems against finger and wrist spin recently and the introduction of spin after the powerplay could have caused Kohli to get to a halt in his innings.
The match turned out to be an absolute thriller as LSG beat RCB by 1 wicket to get to the top of the table in IPL 2023. Valuable contributions from Marcus Stonis and Nicholas Pooran brought LSG back into the game. Stoinis made 65 off 30 balls with six fours and four sixes. Then Pooran scored the fastest fifty in IPL 2023, bettering Ajinkya Rahane’s record. The West Indian ended up making 62 off just 19 balls with four fours and seven sixes.
There was a contribution from Ayush Badoni, who scored 30 off 24 balls with four fours. Then, the lower chipped in with enough runs to help LSG cross over the line by a whisker. With two thrillers in two days, the Indian Premier League is well and truly back to its best.
Let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter:
No not at all. Kohli is clearly a team player. He won many matches for 🇮🇳 single handed.

I think kohli milestone ke liye nhi khel rha tha vo spin ko carefully khel rha tha kyuki past mein spin pe out hua tha

In that phase both batsmen were not able to play good shots because of some quality bowling

I think it was tight bowling by Bishnoi and Krunal which did not allow Kohli to hit freely… So I don't think he was playing slow to complete half century..

yes. Even faf played very slowly till 30 balls. It’s debatable. I think you can give some leeway to batsmen here. You can’t expect them to just keep slogging. Batting is also staying and prolonging the innings.

Na me ne Babar k time agree kia tha na ab agree hun…comon sense ki bat hai jis player ne international me itne zyada 50+ score kye hue hon wo ek domestic match me 50 krne kelye slow khelega?? Bowlers kuch krne nahi aaye the??

Kohli has many faults, statpadding has not been one of them. Don't see any reason why he would worry about a 50 in a league where he has hit many centuries. Probably the bowling team really tightened up with spinners, and he struggled to get the shots going.
