‘Khushi itni khushi’ – Fans react as Indian men’s team beat Pakistan in thrilling final in Squash in Asian Games 2023

India defeated Pakistan in the Men’s team event in Squash, which turned out to be a thriller. The Indian trio of M Mangaonkar, Saurav Ghoshal, and Abhay Singh claimed a sensational 2-1 win after being 0-1 down in the first match. This victory will be remembered by the Indian fans for a long time, as it came against Pakistan, one of the best Squash playing nations, in the final of the Asian Games 2023.

Mangaonkar lost the first match against Pakistan, which meant that India had to win the second match at all costs. That’s when the experienced campaigner Ghoshal stepped up and claimed a crucial win for the Indian team. Kudos to the 37-year-old, who has been the face of Squash in India for a long time since the 2000s and is now in the 2020s.

He continues to inspire the youngsters to take up the sport in India. One such youngster who was inspired by Ghoshal turned out to be a hero for India in the big match. In a must-win game in the final, Abhay Singh stepped up to the occasion, held his nerves, and kept himself and India alive in the match. Pakistan won the first set, and India returned with a win in the second.

Pakistan again won the third set and put a huge pressure on the young player. Abhay had to ensure a win in the fourth set. At one point, he found himself at 8-9. Just two more points and India would have been down and out. that was when Abhay claimed three consecutive points to win the fourth set. A similar comeback had to be made in the fifth set as well.

India was down 8-10 in the final set. This time, Abhay had to ensure four consecutive points. Even a loss of a single point would have meant the end of the road for India. But the clutch performer Abhay claimed four consecutive points in a row and helped India to claim a sensational win against Pakistan. It was a stunning performance from the Indian team.
