The 2nd Test of the India vs England series has the hosts in control right now with a target of 399 put on the board with 2 days remaining. Many people will think that a target of 399 is most likely going to be a very steep target to chase in the last innings of the Test match, however, the England team is capable of surprising any team with their positive approach in Test cricket which they still managed to display on the 3rd day. The England team is currently on 67-1 with Zack Crawley and Rehan Ahmed at the crease and are already scoring at over 4 and a half an over.

The Vizag pitch itself has been on the slower side where the oddball has kept low at times, but even this wicket is not much of a rank turner which you are used to seeing in the sub-continent. Day four will still be a big day for the hosts where they will want to take the last 9 wickets as soon as possible and win the game. The England side is not looking like a side that is playing for a draw at all as they have once again started to play their own aggressive style of Test cricket as soon as the Indian bowlers came to bowl.

Kevin Pietersen backing his boys

Former England player Kevin Pietersen is also backing the English team to try and win this game saying that the pitch is still looking good and the England team has done a great job in getting the Indians all out before setting a target over 400 and finishing his statement saying “the wicket is still good & England will only try and win this game tomorrow. It’s going to be fun!”. This statement by Pietersen is still a warning for the Indian team of what they will be facing next if they fail to get this team bowled out.

The game of Test cricket is much more different compared to the early when the teams only think of surviving and now it will be a big challenge for England since there has never been a target close to 400 which has been chased down in Test cricket. However, we cannot rule that out since the game of cricket is now filled with surprises. If England hope to chase down this target they will still need a plan even with their aggressive style of play. Everyone will be looking forward to seeing a great match if the visitors even come close to getting over the line in these unlikely circumstances.
