Indian national football team captain Sunil Chhetri led his team to a fantastic victory in the SAFF Championship 2023 in June after a thrilling win in the final over Kuwait. India beat 5-4 in penalties after it ended 1-1 in the regulation 120-minute period. Chhetri won the Golden Ball award for his incredible performance throughout the tournament. Meanwhile, India skipper Chhetri praised star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli in his recent interview.
It’s well known to everyone that Kohli and Chhetri share a unique bond. Both have praised each other on various occasions in the past. Meanwhile, in his latest interview, Chhetri spoke about his bond with Kohli. “We talk about a lot of normal things. We share a lot of laughter. We share a lot of jokes and funny stuff. I have had a lot of deep and meaningful chats with Kohli. It’s not like we talk every day. There are phases when we don’t talk for months, but the best part is that he understands, and so do I. But we catch up exactly where we left it,” said Chhetri.
“The few times when I have felt the heat of who I am and the need to perform, and the few times that he has felt the heat of who he is and the need to perform, are exactly when we have chatted. He understands that not everyone can understand what we are going through, and it just hits the right note”, he further added.
India won two trophies in the last month
In the last month, the Indian football team went all out against its opponents and won two trophies. Apart from the SAFF Championship 2023, the Blue Tigers won the Intercontinental Cup. In the finals of the Intercontinental Cup, India beat Lebanon 2-0.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is in Dominica with the Indian Test team. India is set to face the West Indies in Dominica in the first Test of the two-match series. The match will be an excellent opportunity for Kohli to prove his form before the upcoming World Cup. Kohli has been phenomenal throughout the last few months, but he failed to score runs against Australia in the World Test Championship finals.
