Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants put on a great show for the fans in Bangalore in their Indian Premier League 2023 encounter. LSG won the toss and elected to bowl first. It was a run-scoring fest at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The bowlers had to run for cover as there was absolute carnage on the ground. RCB got off to a great start and ended up with 212-2 in their 20 overs. LSG prevailed and won the game by 1 wicket.

After the match, Virat Kohli was seen hugging his Delhi teammate Gautam Gambhir. The two broke into a warm embrace. Gambhir is the mentor for the LSG side in the IPL. It was great to see Kohli and Gambhir embrace each other after the feisty battles that they have had over the years in the IPL, especially when Gambhir was part of Kolkata Knight Riders between 2012 to 2014. When Kohli scored his maiden ODI hundred against Sri Lanka, Gambhir had given his Man of the Match to Kohli.

Coming to the match, it was an absolute cliffhanger. Kohli was among the runs for RCB as he scored 61 off 44 balls with four fours and four sixes. When he got out, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell carried on the good work. The RCB skipper scored an unbeaten 79 off 46 balls with five fours and five sixes. Maxwell found his form as he made 59 off 29 balls with three fours and six sixes.

The onslaught of runs continued in the second innings as LSG fought back after a shaky start. They were 23-3. LSG found new heroes in Marcus Stonis, who made 65 off 30 balls with six fours and five sixes. Nicholas Pooran continued where Stoinis left off. The wicketkeeper batter made 62 off 19 balls with four fours and seven sixes. In the process, he scored the fastest half-century in IPL 2023.

Ayush Badoni played a quickfire 30 off 24 balls with four fours. Then the bowlers chipped in with some runs to give LSG a win by 1 wicket. This was yet another last-ball finish in the IPL. The tournament is well and truly back to dishing out classics and giving imaginary heart attacks to cricket fans.
