‘Kab run banaoge ODI mein tum?’ – Fans hurl questions at Virat Kohli post his failure vs Bangladesh in second ODI
Virat Kohli is one of the biggest names in Indian cricket and notably, in world cricket as well. The superstar, known for his aggressive intent and grit, made a stunning comeback in the Asia Cup 2022 and the 20-20 World Cup 2022, post taking a break prior to the start of the continental tournament. However, the Indian batter has been struggling to get going in the ODI format and failed to deliver in the first ODIs against Bangladesh.
To add more, the Men in Blue are in Bangladesh to take on the Litton Das-led side in a three-match ODI series and notably, India lost the first ODI by 1 wicket. Kohli, who was in red-hot form, eventually contributed only 9 runs in the ODI and on December 7, Wednesday, the two teams competed against each other in the second ODI. Much to the disappointment of the Indian fans, Kohli, who opened the innings, managed to contribute only 5 runs on the day.
Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, walked off the field after dropping a catch at slips that injured his fingers, during the first innings. In the absence of the Indian skipper, it was Kohli who opened the innings fro team India. However, things did not go as planned as the batter eventually perished in quick succession.
Bangladesh prove prowess in second ODI
As far as the first innings is concerned, the Bangla Tigers lost 6 wickets before reaching the 70-run mark and a 148-run stand between Mehidy Hasan and Mohammad Mahmadullah helped the team bounce back. Eventually, on the back of Hasan’s century, Das and his men managed to put on 271 runs on the board at the end of the first innings.
At the end of 9 overs, India were reeling at 38/2 with Shreyas Iyer and Washington Sundar in the middle unbeaten at 13 and 11 runs respectively. It remained to be seen if the Men in Blue could seal the game post losing 2 wickets early in the innings. As things stand, let us take a look at a few Twitter reactions to Virat Kohli’s innings:

Virat Kohli's poor run continues in the ODI format. Without the Chasemaster's form, I think Indian batting is clearly feeling troubled.
The last 3 ODI series haven't been all goody goody for him in any sense but fielding.#CricketTwitter #ViratKohli𓃵#chasemaster

In ODIs in 2022, apart from his 51 & 65 against South Africa, Virat Kohli hasn’t scored above 20 in 8 innings.
Throughout the year, he averages 18.9, which is the first calendar year where his average is less than 30.#BANvIND #ViratKohli𓃵

Virat Kohli has been shambolic in ODIs this year. Not a single score of 20 in last 7 ODIs. 🤦🏽♂️
Ruining test and ODI stats for fun.— Omkar (@Messi_WC22) December 7, 2022

Bangladesh made 271/7 in 50 overs and India is 26/2 in 6.2 overs.
Virat Kohli flopped again. This time he was 95 runs short in 100.

Virat you should take rest for sometime. It is surprising Surya Kumar Yadav excluded for BD tour who has been in great form. No one has raised question over it.@BCCI, @imVkohli ,@jaishah,@anuragthakur
