Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul struggled with the bat in the ongoing IPL 2023 game against Rajasthan Royals. In the game, the home team, Royals won the toss and elected to bowl first. The bowlers backed the decision despite Rahul getting dropped twice inside the powerplay. The right-hander was coming off a 70-odd against his former team, Punjab Kings. Despite this, he failed to accelerate.

During the powerplay, he and Kyle Mayers could only amass 37 despite not losing any wickets. The latter, who has been a revelation for the team, also struggled with the bat. The right-hander, Rahul could only hit four fours while the field restriction was on. In the eighth over, he did hit a four and a six against Jason Holder to indicate him making inroads in the game.

In the next over, Rahul hit his India teammate, Yuxvendra Chahal for a six but in the next over, the former was caught at long on. Rahul didn’t make much effort to clear the fence which is why he was caught.

Deepak Hooda followed KL Rahul soon after

After Rahul’s wicket, Ayush Badoni was promoted up the order. However, the latter got out in the 12th over trying to play a scoop shot. At this time, Deepak Hooda came in and had the responsibility to take the innings forward. However, he did something opposite to that in the 14th over.

Apparently, Hooda tried to slog sweep Ravichandran Ashwin in only his fourth ball of the innings. With the former taking on the longest boundary at the SMS stadium, he was caught by Shimron Hetmyer. At the time of writing, the likes of Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran are batting at the crease. However, they haven’t been able to do much with the bat. At the time of writing, the Blue Brigade scored 129/4 in 18 overs.
