On Day Two of the ongoing South Africa vs India First Test at the SuperSport Park, Centurion, the Asian team started with 208/8. KL Rahl was batting at 70 with Mohammed Siraj (0) at the crease. Even after losing the ninth wicket before Rahul’s hundred, the wicketkeeper batter for the game managed to score his second Test hundred at this venue. He helped the team reach 245 all-out.

In reply, the home team had a poor start as they lost Aiden Markram early. For the first time after the previous home series against India, Markram was opening the batting. After the successive failures, he was replaced by the domestic performer of that time, i.e. Saral Erwee. Meanwhile, at 11/1, the likes of former skipper Dean Elgar and Tony de Zorzi put together 93 runs.

After this partnership was broken, Keegan Peterson got out soon after which a collapse trigger scare. However, at 113/3, the likes of Elgar and debutant David Bedingham put together 131 runs to pile on India’s misery. However, before the day ended due to bad light, the visitors managed to pick two wickets with debutant Prasidh Krishna taking his maiden Test wicket in the form of Kyle Verreynne.

At the end of Day Two, the Proteas are 11 runs ahead with five wickets in hand. There is a high chance that skipper Temba Bavuma can bat on Day Three if needed as he is expected to get enough rest.

What can South Africa and India do on Day Three?

Day Three of a Test match is called a moving day. As it has turned out, the ongoing game can go either way. If the two-time WTC finalists can manage to pick the remaining five wickets for fewer runs, they can bat again but come up with a much-improved batting performance than 245 all-out. On the other hand, if South Africa can make the most of their batting against the 66-over-old ball, the Indians will be under pressure.
