Javed Miandad, who was the former skipper of the Pakistan team, has expressed an extremely insensitive opinion around India’s involvement in the Asia Cup, which is anticipated to be held in Pakistan, grows more complex.

No conclusion has been made on the Asia Cup’s future as cricketing relations among India and Pakistan remain to be frozen out, as a result of political issues between the two countries. According to recent events, the competition is likely to remain in Pakistan, where it was originally scheduled to take place. In this scenario, India will likely to play the games at a neutral site.

The BCCI and PCB’s back-and-forth position has not made things any simpler. Earlier, the PCB vowed to boycott the World Cup, but it has, since, softened. Another rumour that said Pakistan could want to play their World Cup games in Kolkata along with Chennai surfaced on Tuesday. However, Miandad’s incredibly awkward comment will just exacerbate the entire controversy.

What comments has Javed Miandad made about India’s decision of not going to Pakistan?

Javed Miandad spoke on Nadar Ali’s podcast and gave his views about India’s refusal to play the Asia Cup matches in Pakistan.

“Forget security. “We believe that agar maut aani hai toh aani hai. Zindagi aur maut toh allah ke haath mein hai” (If you’re destined to die, you will die. Life and death is in the hands of the almighty). If they call us today, we will go. But they should return too. The thing is the last time we went, but they haven’t come here since. It’s their turn now”, He said.

India have broken all cricketing relations with Pakistan ever since the horrible terrorist attacks in Mumbai in 2008 — there was a brief tour in 2012, but that was it. The only cricket matches between India and Pakistan that are played are around ICC events and the Asia Cup.

Pakistani cricketers are not permitted to participate in the IPL. Many urged the Indian squad to skip their World Cup game against Pakistan in February 2019, but the contest went on despite India being wounded by the awful Pulwama attacks.
