‘Jaiswal sabse pehele Rohit Sharma ko replace karna chahiye’ – Fans react tp reports of Yashasvi Jaiswal replacing Cheteshwar Pujara for WI Tests
The India team will have a break of a month after their loss at the World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Oval in England. India lost by a big margin of 209 runs to Australia. The Men in Blue have now lost two WTC finals in two cycles of the tournament. After the loss, a lot of questions were raised regarding the Indian Team. Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara, in particular, copped the brunt for their below-par batting performances.
In big news coming for the Indian Test squad for the tour to West Indies, reports say that Yashasvi Jaiswal will replace Cheteshwar Pujara in the Indian Test squad. Jaiswal also made it to the WTC final as a standby in place of Ruturaj Gaikwad who had missed the marquee clash because of his marriage. The left-hander has batted at the top of the order for Mumbai in domestic cricket with a batting average of 80.21.
Mohammed Shami is likely to be rested for the West Indies Tests
Pujara played a lot of County Cricket and also captained Sussex. But it has to be kept in mind that he played in Division 2 cricket in England. This meant the bowling attacks in that particular division were not up to the highest standard. Pujara has been the modern wall for India and scored 7195 runs at an average of 43.60 and at a strike rate of 44.36. The right-hander has scored 19 hundreds and 35 fifties. He has the highest score of 206.
Rohit Sharma will continue as the Test skipper for now in the West Indies tour. “Every Test is important, and its result contributes to the World Test Championship (WTC) points table. We cannot experiment in a Test match,” An Indian Cricket Board official said. Reports indicate that Mohammed Shami will be rested for the two-Test match series. It is likely that Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik will come back into the limited overs squads.
Sanju Samson is also likely to don the Indian colours after missing a few home series for Team India. The T20I squad as per reports will not feature senior players and will be led by Hardik Pandya. KS Bharat will continue to don the gloves in the Test format for India.

Jaiswal cannot replace Pujara defending skills. It must be Vihari in that slot. Why India doesn't consider Vihari? Whereas Jaiswal must open for India in the future.

Welcome move. Selectors should consider dropping kohli and Sharma too. One cannot be in the squad on the basis of past performance.

One bad test and they are dropping Pujara.
Since the start of his career he has always got the shorter end of the stick.— AB🐾. 🚩🇮🇳 (Modi ka Parivar) (@abhi_bol) June 15, 2023
Good step, slowly search n groom alternatives for Rohit , Virat , Rahane and wicket keeper batsman.

Great decision!
Cheteshwar Pujara is so good that despite being a regular player in the test team he averages 43 and does not feature in ICCs top 10 Test batsmen. We have dragged him enough at # 3. Time to groom someone like Yashasvi.— K P 🗻 (@Leftist_killer) June 14, 2023
Of course yashasvi deserves a spot! but pujara should not lose his place ….i mean look at his record man …only because of him we have won in aus two times ….n his record in India is tremendous….#pujara

I would replace Rohit/Kohli/Pujara/Rahane/KL Rahl all 5 with newer players. No more of these guys. Get in Patidar/ Jaiswal/ Sai sudarshan/ Rinku singh/Sarfraz etc. Next generation needs a run. Anyway these guys need tailenders to bail them out. Atleast lose with youngsters.
