‘Jaisa Rayudu ko drop kiya’ – Fans roast Virat Kohli as he talks about captaincy in KKR clash in IPL 2023
Virat Kohli has done well as the stand-in captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has captained the side for two games on the trot and produced two wins for the franchise. In the game against Punjab Kings at Mohali. Kohli scored an important 59 off 47 balls with five fours and one six. He put on a partnership with Faf du Plessis that allowed RCB to get to 174 in their 20 overs.
With the ball, RCB stepped up, particularly Mohammed Siraj and Wanindu Hasaranga, who came up with 4-21 and 2-39 in their four overs. RCB were good in the field as well as they executed timely run-outs. Siraj and Hasaranga were the architects of the same. At the toss against KKR, here is what Kohli said. “I have taken few decisions instinctively; it comes naturally for me as a captain”
RCB are currently placed at 5th in the IPL 2023 points table
In the game against RR, Mohammed Siraj produced a jaffa to see the back of the dangerous Jos Buttler. Suyash Prabhudessai affected a game-changing runout. RCB won by 24 runs against PBKS and picked up a hard-fought seven-run win against Rajasthan Royals. RCB have been slightly better in the last two games, but they have to overcome their deficiencies with their death bowling and also a misfiring middle order.
The likes of Mahipal Lomror, Dinesh Karthik, and Prabhudessai have not fired in the tournament, which makes RCB’s middle order look very brittle. The pitch at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium has been a nightmare for the bowlers and RCB has not bowled well in the end overs. Somehow, the top three batters, Kohli, du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, have made up for all the other inadequacies that have troubled the Bold Army.
RCB have not been able to win an IPL trophy in 15 editions. They made the finals thrice in 2009, 2011 and 2016. The Bold Army have had greats in their ranks such as Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers, but the elusive IPL trophy has not become a part of their cabinet yet. It remains to be seen how will they get the trophy home.
