‘Itna sach bhi nahi bolna tha Faf bhai’- Fans react as Faf du Plessis says ‘Ee Saala Cup nahi’ ahead of Mumbai clash
Bangalore have been a franchise to reckon with in the Indian T20 League but they have not been able to win the trophy once in the history of the tournament. But they have made it to three finals. The franchise has also made it to the playoffs on the last three occasions. Bangalore have been in good form over the last three seasons and would be looking to win the trophy this time around.
Meanwhile, during a promotional event, Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis was asked to chant their slogan- ‘Ee Saala Cup namde’, which translates to ‘this year the cup is ours’, in Kannada. But du Plessis got confused between Kanada and Hindi and he ended up saying, ‘Ee Saala Cup nahi’, which means the cup is not ours this year.
Faf replaced ‘namde’ with ‘nahi’ which means ‘no’.
The franchise has done very well in conditions outside of Bangalore. The Indian Tw0 League was played in the UAE and in Mumbai from 2020 to 2022. The bigger grounds and bigger boundaries were suited to the Bangalore bowling unit. The M Chinnaswamy Stadium has not been a good hunting ground for bowlers. The short boundaries and the big bats have made the stadium a bowlers nightmare.
Bangalore made some minor adjustments in the 2022 auction to their side. The Faf du Plessis-led side brought in Reece Topley to bolster their bowling unit. Michael Bracewell, the New Zealand all-rounder was brought in place of Will Jacks, who was ruled out of the Indian T20 League due to injury. The franchise retained the core of the side as Bangalore did not make too many changes in the auction.
The Bold Army have been hit by injuries ahead of the season. Glenn Maxwell looks like he will not start in the first game against Mumbai. Rajat Patidar as a heel injury and he is training at the National Cricket Academy. He has not got clearance from the NCA to take part in the Indian T20 League. Nevertheless, Bangalore will hope to win the trophy this year and Virat Kohli has to have a huge season for that to happen.
