Aakash Chopra, a former Indian cricketer turned broadcaster, consistently keeps fans captivated with his unique commentary style. However, the former opening batter has established a reputation for making wrong predictions in the Indian Premier League 2023.

The 45-year-old was at it once again during the clash between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Chopra predicted that the team batting second would win the game at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

As it turns out, RCB, who batted first in the encounter, won the match convincingly by 24 runs. The game’s headliners were Faf du Plessis, stand-in skipper Virat Kohli, and Mohammed Siraj. Since then, fans have been brutally trolling Chopra for his yet another failed prediction in the cash-rich league.

As for the game, the RCB batted first and got off to a flying start thanks to powerful knocks from Faf and Virat. They scored 137 runs in total, putting RCB in a strong position. Despite not losing a wicket, the opening partnership slowed drastically after the 10th over, putting the Royal Challengers in a difficult situation.

They had 91 after the 10th over and Virat was eventually removed in the 17th over for a total of 137. Nathan Ellis bowled Du Plessis (84 in 56 balls) in the 18th over, following Virat’s dismissal (59 runs in 47 balls). Aside from these two, no one could assist RCB. In the end, they scored 174/4 in the first innings.

On their own turf, Sam Curran‘s team should have had an easy time in the chase, but they never looked like they were in it. While Prabhsimran Singh tried to hold the fort, the rest of the team’s batters were unable to contribute much. He smashed 46 off 30 balls, but wickets kept falling at the other end.

Following that, Jitesh Sharma and Harpreet Brar attempted to push the team across the finish line but fell short. In the end, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Punjab Kings by 24 runs in the 27th Indian Premier League 2023 match, limiting the host team to 150 in 18.2 overs.
