India demolished Australia with a commanding win by an innings and 123 runs in the first Test in Nagpur. Australia could not tackle the web which was spun by the Indian spinners and found themselves wanting on a slightly tricky track at Nagpur. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja picked up eight wickets and seven wickets in the match respectively.

On another note, there are reports from the Sydney Morning Herald emerging that David Warner could be dropped for the second Test against Australia and Travis head could come in as his replacement. Former Australian cricketers were bemused by the fact that Travis Head was not included in the first Test despite his amazing form in the five-day format.

Warner made scores of 1 and 10 in Nagpur which does not amount to a good showing by a player of Warner’s calibre and the lofty standards that he has set for himself in Test Cricket. He recently scored big runs against South Africa and also scored a double ton against them at home. Warner has made 8143 runs in Test cricket at a strike rate of 71.18 and an average of 45.74.

Matt Kuhnemann would likely replace Mitchell Swepson in the second Test against India

Australia might revamp the side going into Delhi for the second Test. Mitchell Swepson is going back to Australia and will return due to the birth of his first child and as a replacement left-arm spinner Matt Kuhnemann is likely to be flown as the Kangaroos are contemplating playing three spinners in the next Test.

Australia, in the first Test, went with a two-pronged spin attack as Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy played at Nagpur. The Delhi pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium has assisted the spinners in the past and would likely be a slow pitch. Mitchell Starc will be available for the second Test so Scott Boland will have to warm the bench.

As for Cameron Green and Josh Hazelwood, both are likely to miss the second Test but the decision on the all-rounder will be taken on the day of the game. Australia will have to see which combination they go in with so that they get the best results after a hammering in Nagpur.

Let us take a look at the reactions here on reports of David Warner being dropped for the 2nd Test:
