The 1st T20 between England and Pakistan took place yesterday. England won the toss and choose to bowl. The match took place in the National Stadium in Karachi. The England side is touring Pakistan after a gap of 17 years.  Pakistan was asked to bat first on a good batting strip. Mohammad Rizwan continued his good form from the Asia Cup 2022. He scored 68 from 46 balls, with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Babar Azam finally found runs from his bat as he scored a lukewarm 31 from 24 balls with 3 fours.

The spin duo of England Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid got together and dismissed Rizwan and Babar, respectively. Haider Ali and Shan Masood were then quickly dismissed by Sam Curran and Adil Rashid, respectively. Iftikhar Ahmed scored a bright and breezy 28 from 17 balls and tanked three hits over the fence before he became Luke Wood’s victim.

Naseem Shah and Mohammad Nawaz were dismissed by Luke Wood as well. The England bowlers put in a wonderful performance with the ball to dismiss Pakistan for a paltry 158 -7. Phil Salt and Alex Hales walked out to open the batting for England. While Salt departed early, it was a superb return to international cricket for Alex Hales as he scored a wonderful 53 from 40 deliveries, with 7 fours in his innings. When Dawid Malan and Ben Duckett departed quickly the score was 87-3.

It seemed that Pakistan would claw themselves back into the game but Harry Brook came and steadied the ship for England with a superb knock of 42 from 25 balls, with 7 gorgeous boundaries. There was a bit of a stutter at the end, but England eventually got there with 4 balls to spare and started the Pakistan tour on a high with a dominating 6-wicket win over the home side.

For Pakistan, the bowlers who got good returns was Harris Rauf, who bowled very well in his four overs and gave away 23, and picked up one wicket. Usman Qadir dismissed Malan and Duckett in his spell.
