When it looked that India would be down in the dumps, they came storming back in the second T20 international against the Australians in a rain affected game in Nagpur. India held their nerve to eke out a 6-wicket win in a truncated game of eight overs a side.

The Men in Blue rode on brilliant performances with the ball from Axar Patel who picked up two wickets in his spell of 2 overs. Jasprit Bumrah also looked good on his return as he picked up the big wicket of Aaron Finch.

Rohit Sharma returned to form with a stroke filled 46 from 20 deliveries with 4 boundaries and 4 maximums. Dinesh Karthik came in at the end and was cool and calm under pressure as he hit a six and a four to finish the chase for India and kept the series alive for the Men in Blue.

When speaking of team India’s 20-20 World Cup preparations, Ajay Jadeja said that momentum is key for India and that they need a string of wins from here on to be in a good frame of mind so that they will be no nerves before the start of the 20-20 World Cup 2022.

Every game from now on will be important for India- Ajay Jadeja

“From now on, I would say that this is our run to the World Cup. Every game from now on, till we finish with South Africa, India have got to win. Unless we do that, we cannot win the World Cup. If they catch that momentum or even look at it that way, then I think that it would be a good place to be in,” Jadeja said.

“Australia are a good team, they may not have their top four players, but they are still a better side than Sri Lanka. In the last few series we have got Ireland, a draw against South Africa, those were good results, but you got to win this one.”

“You ideally want to win and continue on with that momentum. In World Cups, you need consistent wins, you cannot have one win and then one loss. A 2-1 score line looks good in a bilateral series win, but that one game you lost could be a crucial game in the World Cup. It could be the semis, or a vital group stage match to qualify for the semis,” he added.
