‘Isse khete hai clean sweep’ -Fans react as Pakistan rout Afghanistan by 59 runs and win ODI series 3-0

Pakistan and Afghanistan locked horns in the third ODI at Hambandota. The coin fell in favour of the Men in Green and they opted to bat first. Pakistan had a decent start as Fakhar Zaman hit 27 off 33 balls with five fours. Imam-ul-Haq fell after he scored a painstaking 13 off 30 balls with one four. Babar Azam came in at number three and cracked 60 off 86 balls with four fours and one six. Mohammad Rizwan cracked a stroke-filled 67 off 79 balls with six fours and one six.

The Afghanistan attack struck back with wickets to get their side back into the game. at 189-6, it looked like Afghanistan had Pakistan under the ropes. But the Men in Green got some much-needed contributions down the order. Mohammad Nawaz hit 30 off 25 balls with two fours and one six. Agha Salman carried Pakistan to the end of the innings as he struck an unbeaten 38 off 31 balls with four fours and one six. This meant that the Men in Green got themselves to 268-8 in their 50 overs.

Mujeeb Ur Rahaman made 64 off 37 balls with five fours and five sixes for Afghanistan

Gulbadin Naib was the best bowler for the Afghanistan side as he picked up 2-36 in his nine-over spell. Pakistan became the number one ranked ODI side after they beat Afghanistan in the second ODI. They also took an unassailable 2-0 series lead coming into this game. Fareed Ahmed took 2-70 in his spell of ten overs. In the run chase, the Afghanistan batters could not get going. Riaz Hassan hit 34 off 66 balls with five fours at the top of the order.

At Shahidullah Kamal hit a slow 37 off 65 balls with two fours. The Pakistan bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals. The only saving grace for Afghanistan was Mujeeb Ur Rahman who cracked 64 off 37 balls with five fours and five sixes. In the end, Afghanistan could only make 209 in 48.4 overs. Pakistan won by 59 runs. Shadab Khan took 3-42 in his 10 overs spell. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Faheem Ashraf took two wickets each in their respective spells. Mohammad Nawaz also chipped in with 2-45 in his nine overs.
