‘Iss series mein tho kuch bhi jawwb nahi mil raha’ – Fans react as West Indies register comprehensive 6 wicket win against India at Barbados
West Indies and India locked horns at Barbados in the second ODI. It was a shocking defeat for India as they lost the match by six wickets. With this win the Men in Maroon have levelled the 3-match ODI series at 1-1 with the decider to be played in Trinidad. West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl first. For India, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were rested and they were replaced by Axar Patel and Sanju Samson. For West Indies, Keacy Carty and Alzarri Joseph came in for Rowman Powell and Dominic Drakes.
India were asked to bat first as Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill opened the innings and got India off to a great start. Kishan in particular went all guns blazing as he smashed 55 with six fours and one six. Gill looked good for his 34 off 49 balls with five fours. But a rush of blood meant he fell to Gudakesh Montie when he tried to clear the fence. Gill’s dismissal triggered a collapse as West Indies did not look back. Kishan fell soon after as he looked to cut the ball but was sent back by Romario Shepherd off Alick Athanaze who took a wonderful catch.
Shai Hope hit an unbeaten 63 off 80 balls to steer the West Indies home
Samson, Axar and stand-in captain Hardik Pandya all fell in quick succession as the West Indies bowlers kept a leash on the Indian batters. Suryakumar Yadav was the only one who showed some resistance as he made 24 off 25 balls with three fours. But he too perished to Montie caught by Athanaze. The other batters folded like a pack of cards which meant India could only make their way to 181 in their 50 overs.
Montie and Shepherd picked up three wickets each in their respective spells. Joseph also took two scalps in his seven-over burst. In the second innings, Kyle Mayers made a steady 36 off 28 balls with four fours and two sixes, he was caught by Umran Malik off Shardul Thakur with the score at 53. Then Brandon King and Athanaze fell in quick succession. At 72-3, India sensed an opening, But the door was closed by West Indies skipper Shai Hope as he hit an unbeaten 63 off 80 balls with two fours and two sixes.
Hope received great support from Carty as he helped his captain get to the target with some ease West Indies chased down the target in 36.4 overs. He made an unbeaten but vital 48 off 65 balls with four fours. This win gives West Indies cricket some great hope after they failed to qualify for the 50-over World in India in October. It is great for cricket that West Indies are back.

If Sanju Samson is judged by only one or two games. Then the same formula should be applied for the others as well. Why can’t he get 7-10 games continuously? This management decision don’t understand . #WIvsIND #SanjuSamson #IndianCricketTeam #BCCI #WestIndies #CricketTwitter

India team is another West Indies without Kohli & Rohit sharma
Pandya doesn’t know how to bat & bowl but he knows how to show attitude 🤣🤣#WIvsIND— Michael Scofield (@Saikishore831) July 30, 2023
Dravid, I'm sorry but you are not the coach we need for winning a WC. We need a coach ready to take that bold call, like Kirsten did with the 2011 team, and a captain who knows which players can play at what positions. If not we are doomed.#WIvsIND

Hardik Pandya Captaincy Wasn't Good In 2nd ODI Against West Indies. First Batting Order After Opening Pair Was Surprising Sending Axar Patel At 4th Position. Then He Didn't Complete Shardul Thakur 10 Overs, Stopped Kuldeep In Between, Axar Bolwed Just 2 Overs#INDVsWI #WIVsIND

So even today after years of good bench strength, we are unable to beat a low Windies team without VK, Ro, KL, Iyer, Bhuvi & Boom boom.
I think we are taking them for granted very much and I see this purely as a case of overconfidence!#WIvIND #WIvsIND

I can't make what is thought process of this team. Accidental captain rohit mentions results matter to us and coach dravid states you can't worry about series during bigger picture. If captain and coach are not even in same place how team will function 🫤 #WIvsIND
