The good news for the Indian Cricket team is that Indian opener KL Rahul is set to begin batting practice this week but it is confirmed he is set to miss India’s upcoming series against Ireland. The question mark lies on whether he can recover fully in time for Asia Cup 2023. With injuries, Rahul has had a roller-coaster journey with his performances. Despite his immense potential, he has been plagued by injuries and is currently on the sidelines.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain who has not been able to play since being ruled out due to a thigh niggle while fielding during the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has now raised concerns about his health. He is undergoing rehabilitation, and some photographs of him working out at the NCA gym have gone viral as well.

Rahul and Iyer doubtful for Asia Cup

Taking into consideration the upcoming ODI World Cup in October the 31-year-old return is considered very important for Team India and to make Rahul fit before the World Cup. As a wicket-keeper batsman, he can play an important role in the absence of Rishabh Pant in the middle order. The Karnataka batter will almost certainly miss the Ireland series. His ability to play in the Asia Cup will be determined by how well he recovers over the following month.

Shreyas Iyer has begun batting at Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy. Although he experienced a setback in his recuperation due to back problems, he is again back on track. Iyer will miss the T20 series between India and Ireland. He hopes to return for the Asia Cup, which begins on August 31. He has 45 days to return to full fitness. But, with the World Cup 2023 on the line, the Indian Cricket Board medical team will not take any chances to risk him at Asia Cup.

In such circumstances, one of the relieving news for the Indian Cricket Team is that their star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has started bowling again. He is set to return to Team India and can be seen in the upcoming 3-match T20 series against Ireland.
