Jasprit Bumrah has not been given a go-ahead from the National Cricket Academy to start playing competitive international cricket as he has not fully recovered from his back injury yet. He was not a part of the Indian squad for the series against Australia. He would likely directly play in the Indian T20 League.

Bumrah has been ruled out from the team with a back injury for almost five months now. It is expected that his workload will be keenly watched as India are likely to play the Test Championship finals in England immediately after the Indian T20 League concludes and also since this year is a World Cup year. The ODI World Cup will be held in India.

Jasprit Bumrah could be given a conditional NOC for Indian T20 League

He last played for India in a T20I game against Australia in India and he also missed the 20-20 World Cup in Australia. In the last 10 days, it is believed that Bumrah has played two practice games in the Bangalore facility of the Indian Cricket Board, but he has not been given the green signal for coming back into India colours.

Bumrah will play in the Indian T20 league straight away, but the Indian management is not looking at it as a problem. In the Indian T20 League, there have been previous instances where foreign boards have asked franchises to monitor the workload of the players and make sure that they only bowl a specific number of balls in the nets. Bumrah could be given a NOC on these conditions. Similar parameters can be put down for the other Indian bowlers as well to monitor their workload management.

India recently announced the ODI squad for the ODI series against Australia and also for the last two Tests. Jaydev Unadkat has got an ODI call-up after 10 years and India have not named a vice-captain for the remaining Tests against Australia.
