The Ashes was an excellent series to watch. The cricket on the show was off the highest level. The series was tied 2-2. But the Ashes urn went to Australia. Meanwhile, Nathan Lyon said he did not see Bazball prevalent during the first two Tests. Lyon played the first two Test matches where Australia won both games and took a 2-0 lead in the series before England came and launched a stunning comeback. Australia registered a two-wicket win at Edgbaston and a 43-run win at Lords.
Lyon played in the first two Tests before he sustained an injury while fielding at Lords. The off-spinner picked up nine wickets in two matches. “I know everyone keeps talking about BazBall, to be honest, I didn’t really see BazBall throughout my two Tests again them,” Lyon said. “I think there’s a lot of smoke and mirrors with BazBall, if I’m being honest with you, and I feel like if you’re going to play an aggressive brand of cricket anyway, it’s about being able to go up and down in gears and understanding the moments in the game.” The 35-year-old said.
“I’m 2-0 in my Tests against BazBall I look at the Australian cricket team and the batters we’ve had, David Warner for example I’ve seen him score hundreds in a session and that’s off playing an attacking brand of cricket.” Lyon further elucidated his point. England won a thriller at Leeds by just three wickets. In the fourth Test at Manchester which was Stuart Broad’s last by 49 runs. It was a great spectacle of Test Cricket because of the amazing games on show and also due to a lot of controversy that took place throughout the series.
Moeen Ali came back into the Test side on the behest of Ben Stokes, After the series, he said he would not play Tests again and would not be a part of the upcoming India tour. At the Ashes, the 36-year-old picked up nine wickets in four games and also scored 180 runs. Ahead of the India series, England will miss Broad and Moeen who have good numbers against India.
