Pakistan A beat India A in the finals of the ACC Mens Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 tournament. The Indian team, with no capped player, faced Pakistan A, which had some capped players with enough international experience. Indian captain Yash Dhull won the toss and elected to bowl first on the big day, a decision which probably backfired on India.

The Pakistani openers were off to a flier. The Indian pace duo of Harshit Rana and Rajvardhan Hangargekar bowled some looseners which helped Pakistan to get going. Saim Ayub scored 59 runs in 51 deliveries and Sahibzada Farhan scored 65 runs in 62 balls. The opening partnership of Pakistan lasted for 17.2 overs and contributed 121 runs.

Pakistan bat India out of the game

Omair Yousuf played a good hand and scored 35(36). When Riyan Parag bowled a crucial spell as a part-timer, India was back in the game. From 183/2 after 27.1 overs, Pakistan slipped to 187/5 in 28.4 overs. Parag dismissed Yousuf and Qasim Akram in back-to-back deliveries. Nishant Sindhu got rid of captain Mohammad Haris.

What followed later was the carnage of Tayyab Tahir. The 29-year-old scored 108(71) and batted India out of the game. With some useful contributions in the end from Mubasir Khan, Mehran Mumtaz, and Mohammad Wasim Jr, Pakistan posted a mammoth total of 352 runs on the board. India had a good start for their innings. The opening pair of Sai Sudarshan and Abhishek Sharma 64 runs in 8.3 overs.

The wicket of Sai Sudarshan became the turning point of the Indian innings. Although Sharma had a 52-run partnership for the third wicket with Yash Dhull, it was almost out of reach for India. From 132/2, India slipped to 224 in 40 overs, losing the last 8 wickets for 92 runs. The scoreboard pressure was immense as the middle-order batters fell like a pack of cards. Pakistan A won the second title in a row in ACC Mens Emerging Teams Asia Cup. Indian young talents showed what they are capable of.
