After weeks of speculation surrounding his absence from competitive cricket, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan has been spotted training at the renowned Kiran More Academy in Baroda. Notably, he’s not alone, as he’s joined by none other than the Pandya brothers– Hardik and Krunal– in honing his skills.

Kishan‘s extended break, which began after leaving the Indian team set-up in South Africa in December 2023, had fueled questions about his commitment and plans. He also missed domestic opportunities like the Ranji Trophy, further adding to the uncertainty. However, his presence at the Kiran More Academy suggests a renewed focus on cricket and a potential return to action soon.

The academy, established by former India wicketkeeper Kiran More, is a popular training ground for aspiring and established cricketers. The company could be quite beneficial for Kishan as both Hardik and Krunal could help him improve his game. Hardik, known for his aggressive batting and all-round abilities, can offer valuable insights and guidance, while Krunal’s experience as a left-arm spinner could benefit Kishan’s batting against spin bowling.

While Kiran More confirmed Kishan’s presence at the academy, he refrained from commenting on the specifics of his training or potential return date. This has further fueled speculation about Kishan’s next move. The upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, scheduled for March-May 2024, appears the most likely target for his comeback. As a key player for Mumbai Indians, his return would be a major boost for the franchise.

I just don’t want to go on labouring about the Ishan Kishan point: Rahul Dravid

Just a few days back, Indian coach, Rahul Dravid was asked about Kishan’s absence from the international scene. Dravid only reiterated what he had said in an earlier press conference. “There’s a way back for anyone and everyone. It’s not that we rule out anybody from anything. I just don’t want to go on labouring about the Ishan Kishan point. I’ve tried to explain it as best as I can. The point was that, you know, he requested a break. We were happy to give him a break whenever he was ready. I didn’t say he has to play domestic cricket. I said, whenever he’s ready he needs to play some cricket and come back, and the choice is his,” he said.

Kishan’s training alongside the Pandya brothers has generated excitement among fans and experts alike. His talent and potential are undeniable, but questions remain about his consistency and temperament. This training stint could be a crucial turning point in his career, offering him the opportunity to learn from experienced players and refine his skills in a focused environment.
