Indian skipper Virat Kohli continued his good form with the bat as he smashed his third half-century in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 against Bangladesh on Wednesday. Virat Kohli came into bat as early as in the 4th over as Rohit Sharma had departed for just 2 runs.

Kohli then steadied the ship with KL Rahul as the duo stitched a 67-run partnership for the second wicket. After scoring a half-century, KL Rahul got out in the 10th over but the former Indian skipper ensured the runs kept coming at the other end. He went on to play an unbeaten knock of 64 runs in just 44 balls, helping India register a formidable score of 184 runs at the end of the first innings.

India, later, restricted Bangladesh to 145 runs, thereby winning the match by 5 runs (via the DLS method). Following the win, Virat Kohli was adjudged the Player of the Match. At the post-match presentation, Kohli was asked if the old version of himself is back. To that, he said,

“Pretty close game, not as close as we would’ve liked it to be. It was another good day with the bat I guess, was trying to play myself into the innings. When I went in there was pressure, was watching the ball well. To answer your question, I would just say that I’m just in a happy space, I don’t want to compare anything. What’s in the past is in the past,” Kohli responded.

“As soon as I knew the World Cup was in Australia, I was grinning from ear to ear. I knew good cricketing shots would be the key. I knew the kind of experience and game awareness of having played in Australia will come in handy for the team. I absolutely love playing in this ground. Right from the nets at the back, as soon as I enter, it makes me feel at home. That knock at MCG was meant to be, but when I come here, it’s like I’m meant to come to Adelaide and enjoy my batting,” Kohli added.

India will be playing their last match in the Super 12s against Zimbabwe on Sunday in Melbourne.
