IPL 2024: Ravichandran Ashwin calls Mumbai Indians trading tactics as ‘Burglary’

Ravichandran Ashwin marvels at Mumbai Indians strategy

Ravichandran Ashwin has marvelled at the trading acumen of Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2024 season. The five-time winners have already signed Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans in an all-cash deal.

Rohit Sharma and his side head into the IPL Mini Auctions 2024 with INR 17.75 Crores left in the bank. The main target will be an international pace bowler as well as a few Indian talents.

Mumbai Indians haven’t won the IPL for the last three years. With Hardik Pandya coming back and Jasprit Bumrah getting fit the men in blue and gold are getting ready. If they play their cards right during the IPL Mini Auction 2024 Mumbai could very well win the title again.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s massive statement on Mumbai Indians –

Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has paid huge compliments to Mumbai Indians. The reason behind this is that the franchise decided to trade West Indian all-rounder Romario Shepherd from Lucknow Super Giants.

Taking to his YouTube Channel Ashwin said “Mumbai Indians have pulled off a burglary at LSG. Hardik Pandya is himself a well-organized planned heist like we saw in Money Heist. But Romario Shephard was a little pickpocket while walking for a breeze. I feel they have given 50 lakhs for a player on the right side of his career,”

The Indian spinner also said “Romario Shepherd has been in the IPL for two years and has not exactly lived up to his potential. However, he scored with a 150 strike rate for West Indies against England and picked a couple of players as well. Mumbai have a solid Indian core so with the impact player rule, Romario Shepherd is a dangerous player”

Romario Shepherd has been in great form with the bat in the recent ODI series against England. The 29-year-old has scored 108 runs from 3 games with an average of 54 and a highest of 48 not out. The West Indian player also picked 5 wickets with the ball against Jos Buttler and his team.

The IPL numbers are Romario Shepherd are next to negligible with just 4 games under his belt. What catches the eye is his strike rate of 138 with a best of 26 runs along with 5 sixes and two fours in his IPL Career.
