Pace bowling is arguably the most important aspect of T20 cricket. It boils down to the fact that the fans love to see the batters scoring runs for fun, hitting sixes for fun all over the park and the roof, and hitting lovely drives. As a result, the pitches in the shortest format of the game are all batting-friendly. It is one of the reasons why pacers become crucial, as a high-quality one in a side can play a huge role in teams winning the entire season.
Mohammed Shami will be the new ball giant in the team. With the new ball, it is important to take the wickets to cut off the flow of runs from the blade of the batters who have no mercy for the bowlers. Shami with his outswinger and an incredible seam position can be very dangerous with the new ball. In the IPL 2023, Shami was one of the two best pacers in the first 6 overs. He will not be very useful in the other phases and would hence dominate the powerplay overs only.
Jasprit Bumrah will handle the death bowling of the side along with some handy bowling in the other phases of the game where he is equally good. But the key role of the star bowler would be to control the flow of runs and take the big wickets in the back end of the game. Bumrah did not take part in the IPL 2023 due to an injury and would be waiting badly to return to his best form with the ball and do what he usually does best.
