The IPL 2023 has been a great season for all the cricket fanatics. it has had its fair share of last-ball thrillers. There have been a lot of last-over finishes. The games have been high-octane and there have been a lot of cliffhangers which have kept the fans on the edge of their seats. There were 12 venues used for hosting a total of 74 games. The home and away concept was back after a three-year gap because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Now with the tournament done and dusted, let us take a look at the hit XI of the IPL 2023. There have been some memorable performances. The next line of Indian cricketers have been found in this IPL. The tournament has definitely lived up to its tagline of Where talent meets opportunity.  The tournament has been seamlessly integrated into the Indian cricket ecosystem.

The openers:

1. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill has shown he is a player who is there for the long haul. The man from Punjab has racked up 890 runs in 17 matches. The right-hander had an average of 59.33 and a sizzling strike rate of 157.80. Gill made four fifties and three hundreds across the tournament. This season has been reminiscent of Virat Kohli’s season in 2016 where he scored 973 runs in that season.

2. Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis has been ageing like fine wine. The RCB skipper has accumulated 730 runs in 14 matches. The South African has an average of 56.15 and a strike rate of 153.68. Du Plessis’s game plan over the last season has been playing the quicks with caution and hitting more runs off the spinners. He has been Mr consistent for RCB this season.

Middle Order:

3. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakunar Yadav did not have the best of starts coming into IPL 2023. But he showed that form is temporary and class in permanent. Suryakumar has smashed 605 runs in 16 matches at an average of 43.21 and a strike rate of 181.13. He also scored a superb century against Gujarat Titans. He will come at number three.

4. Heinrich Klassen

Heinrich Klaasen will be the wicketkeeper in the side. The South African has been the lone bright spot for Sunrisers Hyderabad this season. The right-hander hit a total of 448 runs at an average of 49.77 and a strike rate of 177.07. He has hit two fifties and one hundred in the season.

5. Marcus Stoinis

Marus Stonis will be a bowling option on the side and will come at no 5. In the 15 games that the Australian has played, he has made 408 runs with the highest score of 89 that came on a tough pitch at the Ekana Stadium against MI. With the ball, he picked up five wickets as well.

6. Rinku Singh

Rinku Singh has made IPL 2023 memorable as he played many match-winning knocks for Kolkata Knight Riders over the season. Rinku over the course of 14 games has made 474 runs at an average of 59.25 and a strike rate of 149.52.  The 25-year-old has struck four half-centuries in the tournament.

Bowlers:

7.  Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja continues to show why he is the best across formats both for India and in the IPL. The left-hander scored 190 runs in 16 games. With the ball, he was at his devastating best as he picked up 20 wickets. Jadeja even hit the winning runs for the side in the IPL 2023 final.

8. Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami has been a very consistent bowler in the IPL over the years. The India pacer proved once again why he is the best in the business. He won the purple cap in IPL 2023. He picked up 28 wickets in 17 games at an economy rate of 8.03.

9. Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan has been one of the best overseas players in the IPL. He gave GT many memorable moments with his all-around performances. The Afghan picked up 27 wickets in 17 games. He even shone with the bat, The wrist-spinner had the highest score of 79 against MI.

10. Mohit Sharma

Mohit Sharma has been one of the comeback men in IPL 2023. In a season of redemption, the Gt bowler was in the purple cap race right through the tournament. In the 14 games that he played, he has picked up 27 wickets. With his slower balls and change-ups, he has been a top performer.

11. Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj has been one of the few bright spots for RCB in 2023. He has picked up 19 scalps and shown that he is a force to reckon with even when it comes to death bowling. Siraj has been RCB’s best death bowler by far and has outshone all others in IPL 2023.
