In the table-topper clash of the ongoing Women’s T20 League 2023, Mumbai and Delhi locked horns in game number seven. Coming into the game, both teams had won their first two games and were yet to lose a game. Meanwhile, in the game, the national capital-based side, Delhi won the toss and elected to bat first. Skipper Meg Lanning said that the pitch would remain the same throughout the game.
However, her decision started proving wrong as they lost three wickets for 31 runs. For the first time in the tournament, the team suffered such a poor start. However, the likes of Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues put together 50 runs for the third wicket. As soon as both batters got out in the 13th over, the team collapsed and was bowled out for a mere 105 runs. For Mumbai, Saika Ishaque, Issy Wong, and Hayley Matthews took three wickets each.
In reply, the likes of Matthews and Yastika Bhatia put together 65 runs for the first. They got out between the ninth to 12th over of the chase. However, the likes of skipper Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt took the team over the line. Their side won the game by eight wickets and five overs to spare. With this, they have completed a hat-trick of wins. After the game, the left-arm spinner, Saika Ishaque, who took three wickets, was adjudged Player of the Match.
“I am feeling very happy. It feels like a dream. My coaches have supported me and that is why I have been able to perform. My role is similar and I have to take it one ball and one game at a time. I hope to continue in this way,” Player of the Match, Saika Ishaque said.

Saika bowling with her Purple Cap on, such a vibe. Disappointed that it was against my team, but what a breakthrough star she has been… #Whattaplaya #WPL2023 #DCvMI https://t.co/2vWpr9VrXb

It is quite remarkable that despite having played only three games so far, all three Mumbai Indians' innings in this #TATAWPL feature on the top 15 list of the highest boundary % contribution to a team total.
MI scored 77% of their runs in boundaries v GG & 73% v RCB.#DCvMI
