India’s squad for the 20-20 World Cup annouced
India’s squad for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup has been announced. Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have been added to the squad after recovering from injuries. The duo is currently training in the National Cricket Academy. Mohammad Shami could not make it to the squad but has been named among the four standby players.
Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin are the two primary spinners in the team, while Ravi Bishnoi has been named standby.
The keeper’s slot was a hot point of discussion as Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant were not able to showcase their normal game and both had a below-par show at the Asia Cup 2022. However, both the players have found a place for themselves in the team. It remains to be seen who their primary wicketkeeper-batter will be.
Sanju Samson, who has recently put on some strong performances, was not given a chance to join the team. Many expected him to take Pant’s place in the team as the second-choice wicketkeeper. With Ravindra Jadeja injured, Axar Patel has been included in the squad as he is a left-hander who can bat in the middle order and is a like-for-like replacement for Jadeja.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya will be India’s sixth bowling option in the mega event. Bhuneshwar Kumar will take up the responsibility for India with the new ball, along with Jasprit Bumrah.
