Rajasthan were absolutely brilliant during the Indian T20 League 2022. Despite not winning the title, they won a lot of hearts. The Sanju Samson-led side lost to Gujarat in the grand finale.

Owing to the fact that Rajasthan had one of the best sides on paper going into the tournament, they would be disappointed over the fact that they failed to win the title. Thus, they are expected to release a few of their players ahead of the next auction. So which players could the Rajasthan-based franchise release? Today, we shall be taking a look at three players Rajasthan might release ahead of the 2023 edition.

1) Daryl Mitchell:

Daryl Mitchell grabbed the headlines after his match-winning knock against England in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 semi-final. While he was expected to be impactful, he had a forgettable season for the 2008-champions.

The Kiwi all-rounder was only able to score 33 runs in two games at an average of 16.5. Besides, he was ineffective with the ball as well. Moreover, Rajasthan desperately needs an all-rounder who can bat in the lower middle-order. As for Mitchell, he’s best suited to bat in the top-order.

2) James Neesham:

Over the years, James Neesham has had several noteworthy performances for New Zealand. However, he hasn’t been able to live up to his reputation in the Indian T20 League. Despite getting several chances to showcase his talent in the cash-rich league, he has been below-par, to say the least.

As for the 2022 edition, he once again failed to set the stage on fire in the limited opportunities he received. Thus, it is highly unlikely that the Rajasthan-based franchise would retain him ahead of the 2023 edition.

3) Navdeep Saini:

Navdeep Saini is arguably one of the fastest bowlers in India. He was expected to be the next big thing in cricket. However, injuries and form didn’t really support him. Nevertheless, Rajasthan still picked him up during the 2022 mega auction.

Unfortunately for him, he only played two games this season. In these games, Saini picked three wickets, and went for 36 runs in both games. Besides, Rajasthan already have several talented Indian pacers such as Kuldeep Sen, Prasidh Krishna, Trent Boult, and Obed McCoy.
