Indian Cricket Board releases partial schedule for IPL 2024
As was expected, the Indian Cricket Board and the governing body of the Indian Premier League have announced a partial schedule for the 10-team tournament. The program for the initial 17 days has been announced, a period during which 21 games will be played. The league will commence on Friday, March 22 with the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings hosting the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
In an important development, the Delhi Capitals will play their home games in Visakhapatnam. It is understood that the board informed the franchise and the Indian Cricket Board that it will need some time to prepare surfaces for the IPL as the ground is due to host 11 Women’s Premier League games. The Punjab Kings will play their home games at a new venue in Mullanpur instead of their regular ground in Mohali.
This phase will see three double-header days- March 23, March 31, and April 7. All the games except the opener will start at 7:30 pm. The first game will kickstart at 8:00 pm. The remainder of the schedule will be announced by the board once the dates of the elections are finalized by the Election Commission of India.
