India’s skipper KL Rahul won the toss and unlike in the first two games, he decided to bat first. Rahul himself stepped out to open the innings with Dhawan. While Dhawan came out to bat, it was seen that Shardul’s name was taped on his t-shirt but jersey number 54 can be seen. Though it is still unknown what caused the left-hander to wear Thakur’s jersey. This sort of instance can be caused due to logistical reasons or any kind of unavoidable circumstances.

It did not take long for fans to come up with some interesting Gabbar-Thakur memes, with Gabbar being Dhawan’s nickname. Some fans even criticized the Indian Cricket Board for being unable to provide proper jerseys for cricketers despite being the richest cricketing body in the world.

Dhawan and Rahul gave India a solid start but were not able to convert the starts. Shubman Gill smashed his maiden ODI century and Ishan Kishan supported him with a well-made fifty. Riding on Gill and Kishan’s innings, India posted a decent score of 289 runs on the board. Brad Evans was Zimbabwe’s star with the ball with an incredible five-for. Having already clinched the three-match series, India would look to end the series on a high with another win.
Post the ODI series against Zimbabwe, the attention of the Indian team will shift to the all-important Asia Cup 2022. India will start their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on August 28 in Dubai.
