Team India would want to get the best out of their dwindling bowling resources and would look to not make too many changes when they lock horns with Sri Lanka in their do-or-die Super 4 clash at the Asia Cup in Dubai on Tuesday.

Team News

India

In the absence of the injured trio of Ravindra Jadeja, Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah, India does not have a lot of options within the bowling department. India went in with five bowling options against Pakistan on Sunday and clearly, the move backfired as Bhuvneshwar Kumar was not looking at his penetrative best with the ball.

After a match-winning effort in the opening game against Pakistan, Hardik Pandya was leaking runs and so was Yuzvendra Chahal, who has not been able to get wickets in the tournament. The five-bowler ploy also makes Hardik’s four overs more crucial. Axar Patel, who is a like-for-like replacement for Jadeja, can be brought into the playing eleven to lend more balance. Avesh Khan, who was unwell ahead of the Pakistan clash, can also come back as the third seamer.

Sri Lanka

Excluding Charith Asalanka, all the other Sri Lanka batters have made good use of their batting form, whether it was skipper Dasun Shanaka and Kusal Mendis against Bangladesh or Danushka Gunathilaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa against Afghanistan. Sri Lanka has the belief that it can win in any situation. It is a developing squad, but India will be wary of them. Another loss will eliminate India from the final race.
